Tribute to Tolkein Quilt

HMQS – Home Machine Quilting Show | Sponsor Information.
This is the winner of the Salt Lake City quilt show my Mom entered a quilt in.
It’s a Tribute to Tolkein by Sue McCarty & I could stare at it for hours! If only I could see it in person!
She used metallic threads, fabrics, it’s quilted on velvet. There is Trapunto quilting throughout as well.
I am trying to track down a website for the quilter,  Sue McCarty.
Ents, elvish, horses, eagles, Dark Riders on the bottom, they eye, dragons, 2 towers, Gandalf, ohmygosh I am in love!

Jazzy @ Hendry's Beach on Flickr – Photo Sharing!

Welcome Jazz, or Jazzy, to the Andreasen Family!
She is a 2.5yo French Waterdog, or American Barbet.
It’s taken us a long time to make the decision to get a dog but we finally did it & I am so pleased with who we found!
She came from a family that just couldn’t have 2 dogs anymore so they decided to give up one. To our benefit, may I add.
She’s a love. She let’s the kids roll on her, use her as a pillow, pull on her collar, boss her around.  It’s great!
She likes her leash, likes walks & as I found out this morning, truly is a waterdog & Loves the beach!

Well made plans…

I thought I could get enough yardage from the Velvet Grapes merino roving but I couldn’t. So, I am planning on figuring something else out. Not sure what yet. I like the idea of using Valley Yarns 2/10 Merino Tencel Lace Colrain Yarn Chocolate.

I only need one cone so it’s a relatively inexpensive way to go.

Or, I will at the last minute choose something from my stash ;o)

Being a procrastinator I am honest & open that I will put it off until the very last minute now that I planned ahead & my plan failed!

I am currently being a monogamist and working on Julia. Her front, back and one sleeve are complete. I am working on the second sleeve and hope to finish it tomorrow night. Then the sewing toghether and blocking on Wednesday if all goes well. Thursday I can move on! yay! I get to choose a new project to cast on and I have a feeling it’s a blanket. I need another blanket project like I need a hole in the head but I just can’t help myself.

EDIT: I ended up ordering Chocolate lace wool from 100 Pure Wool. Amazingly soft yarns and their colors are to die for!

I love the internet

I held my mail on the USPS site 2 days before leaving.
You used to have to walk in and fill out a form.

I am having Salvation Army come & pick up the 6 bags of donations that have been in my car for weeks.
I have been meaning to drop them off, really I have.

I found out the weather  & road conditions for our whole drive there and back.
Not just the weather forecast for our destination.

It’s miraculous, this internet!
it’s also a time-suck

Crochet Water Bottle Holder

I whipped up this thing for useful purposes only. Not the cutest, not the fanciest, just useful. As some knitting/crocheting should be.

I walk the kids to school everyday and hate to carry a bag with water, etc in it. I wear a down vest that has pockets for my phone, earbuds & tissues. My knitting sack has a d-ring I attach to the inside of my vest & it hangs right below the bottom of the vest so I can knit while I am walking or sitting at the school. The only thing left is my coffee mug in the morning & my water bottle in the afternoon. Tada! I made my own carrier to fix that problem! Now both hands will be free to knit to & from school. Brilliant!

FREEDOM

I have my freedom back everyone! The White Mimosa is done!! YIPPEEE!!!

Again, I apologize for the picture quality.

I am actually really happy with the end result. I hated knitting it but it came out beautifully. Now I just hope it fits Mom & she’s pleased with it. I will package it up and get it sent on it’s way today!

I put it down last night after finishing & immediately picked up my Trapeze Jacket. Aaaah, how nice to return to ribbing. A lovely rhythm of knits and purls. Other than a few other small projects I will be doing that’s going to be my main focus.

Speaking of smaller projects, I did cheat a tad bit & get a hat done for Tyler and a Panta for Cori.

I cannot do it

I can’t make it to knitting tonight at Java Station & it’s oh so sad. George started a league soccer team & their first game is tonight so it looks like I will he home, knitting & pretending I am somewhere else ;o)

I am so close to being done with the Isabella sweater that I can almost taste it. I have lost some knitting time being at the beach everyday from 8:30am-2pm (sometimes 3pm) for Sadie’s Beach volleyball camp but it’s worth the loss. I have been able to re-read HP6 and read both of my daily papers from front to back every day. Normally I scan, do the sudoku puzzles & then toss them. It’s nice to actually read them in entirety.

All I have left is to finish about 30 rows on the left front side, sew front & back together & do the armholes. Really it’s not much I just can’t seem to get more than an hour or two a day to knit on it. Shocking, yes? Me not knitting at least 6 hours a day. Summer is here & my life stops being mine.

I did teach an entrelac class this week so now I have a pillow front to work on for the next 2 weeks until the second class. It’s a fun, fast pattern and I am using Rowan Tapestry on size 6 addi lace needles so it does go rather quickly. Not as quickly as say, Silk Garden. Of which I am still waiting to come from Discount Yarn Sale. I will never, ever shop there again. Bad, bad experience. I will just say that it’s been 15 weeks since I ordered & they just got the yarn in to ship to me next week. Lovely!

I am looking forward to the HP7 book release Saturday morning & it’s just wrong that there are spoilers available already so my internet searching will be very limited until I have finished the book. I am also looking forward to Clue 4 of the Mystery Stole tomorrow. I am okay with it being a longer than normal clue due to the anticipation of us all reading HP & not knitting on our stoles. I still hope to have it done by Sunday night like I have the last 3 clues. Not sure how I am going to do that with the book & normal weekend plans but I will try.

I found the camera that I want, it’s on ebay (no worries, I have much better experiences on ebay than with normal web stores) and the auction ends tomorrow. It’s a Minolta dslr, I already have a Minolta 35mm slr that I will be able to interchange lenses/filters & the like with. I am trying not to get too excited over it until I have won it & it’s in my hot little hands. Then I will brag with photos & beautimus things!
So until then we are pictoorless yet again!

Edging detail

I love the details on the Unmentionables.

I love the waistline.

I love the increase eyelets to the ruffly, flouncy bottom.

I love the bottom lace edging.

I also love how the bottom ruffle is coming together.

They are just making me so happy! Although, it has taken 3 hours to get through half of one legs’ ruffle edging. It’s a great edging though; 8 rows being work perpendicular for every 4 horizontal sts of the leg. Beautiful way to bind off. I am thinking it would make a great cuff on sleeves, collar, or even toe up socks.

Speaking of socks, I am teaching a 2 socks at once magic loop class starting tonight. Here are a few of the sundries I need to take with me:

I finally get to knit the Union Center Whatnot sock yarn from Woolgirl. So bright and fun! I love this yarn in the balls, I just hope it’s as perfect knit up. No funky pooling/striping happening. Just variegated goodness.
