Panic, panic!!

I have time that I can knit…I have too many projects going & none that I can just finish right now in the next 4 hours…panic, panic! Fortunately for me my cleaning frenzy on Saturday has made my week rather light work. Just pick up & floors mostly. Nice! But now I have the dilema of deciding what to knit. Actually while pondering this during my online panic, I have just decided that instead of starting a new project (which is what I really want to do) I will work on the sleeves for George’s sweater. Although now that I have seen Leo in the newest knitty I don’t want to finish the sweater I am working on. I am so bad! I will finish it, then I will make him a Leo also.  Yep, that’s my plan! Don’t know if I will stick to it but at least I made a plan for the day.

Ciao!

SO tired…but I must post

I just wanted to say that I am so thankful for all the ladies in our knitting group. Tonight we had a few new girls & I am so glad that our group is growing & becoming more diverse. We finally decided that there should be some kind of contact list so i am going to work on that tomorrow & get it to our matriarch Laura so that she can give it her stamp of approval. I am so glad that you started the group Laura! Thank you!

So welcome to all new comers & we are gonna rock the Java Station every Monday night. We may actually outgrow it pretty soon if we are all consistent in our attendance.

Good night all!

Ruching, ruching here I come…

I do believe that tomorrow night on my way to the java station group I am going to stop at craft essentials & pick myself up some 36″ bamboo circ needles to start on my ruched silk blanket. I posted some pics of the swatch I did. I am pretty excited to have a very natural comfy blanket to cuddle with in my big purple chair. I should post a pic of my knitting chair so you all can visualize me there knitting my little heart out.

It is really sad that you walk in my house & for the most part it is clean & decorated, then you see my chair, the table next to it, the ground surrounding & there is a realization that there is a crazy yarn monger that lives in that 20sqft space. <sigh> So is life with a neurotic knitter.

Busy Saturday

Wow! My husband has decided to make me be social, he invited his crew from work & their significant others for a danish dinner. Yummy, yummy! But of course that meant that I had to spend from 10am-3:30pm cleaning. Lame! It wasn’t as bad as it could have been, that is the nice thing about a small house. I could have had the quick clean done in an hour but I felt convicted that I needed to do some things that I keep putting off. Like changing all bedding, working on laundry (i did 4 loads & put them away), rearranging some pics on walls, removing & organizing clutter (I must say that I have learned how to minimize clutter in the whole house except for the kids rooms, but in there it’s not clutter it’s just toys & a ton of books-totally a run on sentence, sorry about that). SO ~tadah~ I am showered, although without makeup still, and dressed. Of course I am waiting for my mail to come. XCrossingX my fingers that there will be one of my yarn orders. Last night was really fun Tracy & I went to the Starbucks close to her house in Montecito & knit our little hearts out for a couple of hours. It was freezing in there though! I had to stop knitting every once in a while & warm up my frozen fingers under my thighs. SO that was fun. Now I must go knit the anxiety, of having people over to my house, out so I am not totally jittery. Tracy will be here though so of course that will be very nice!

Probably post again on Monday & maybe some pics to go along!

Answers to Thuy’s “knitterly questions”

1. are you a yarn snob who prefers high end/natural fibers? do you avoid red heart and lion brand? or is it all the same to you?

I love the nicer yarns but I am not a snob. I am very frugally minded since I knit for a family of 5. Therefore, sometimes my life calls for lion brand but usually not any red heart.

2. do you spin? crochet?

Yes to both

3. do you have any allergies?

All I have to say is “thank God for flonase & claritin”!

4. how long have you been knitting?

I learned when I was 12 but didn’t really do much more than scarves until age 20.

5. do you have an amazon or other online wish list?

Yes, yes I do! Thanks for asking!

6. what’s your favorite scent?

Anything other than poopy diapers. Okay fine, I am a mom! I do really like citrus cents though!

7. do you have a sweet tooth?

Oh good Lord, yes!

8. what other crafts or do-it-yourself things do you like to do?

There was one point in my life, I am ashamed to say, that scrapbooking consumed me & my yarn was hid away. <sigh> How embarrassed am I?

9. what kind of music do you like? can you play mp3s?

I like all music pretty much, well, okay, not true. I don’t like hip hop & rap. But then again I do like black eyed peas & some other similar music. So don’t ask me that question!

10. what’s your favorite color? or do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer?

Two colors, greens & reds. Interesting that my bday is a week before christmas.

11. what is your family situation? do you have any pets?

My “situation” is marriage with 3 kids. One rabbit named Rose (the dr. informed us that it should be Roosevelt)

12. what are your life dreams?

Um…to live long enough to enjoy my children & accomplish whatever this life has in store for me.

13. what is your favorite yarn to knit with?

No favorite really.

14. what fibers do you absolutely *not* like? please note that schmeebot does not condone the usage of asterisks for emphasis.

I do not like not liking any yarns. All yarns are equal in my eyes, to be politically correct.

15. what is your current knitting obsession?

Beanies but only cuz I have to. Other than that knitting is an obsession all in itself.

16. what is your favorite item to knit?

I don’t know, I like knitting so as long as it involves needles I am happy.

17. what are you knitting right now?

Okay, you asked:

ab fab throw kit, mens sweater, womens short sleeved sweater, argyle sweater, stripey sweater, beanies, baby blankets-3, poncho & who knows what else!

18. what do you think about ponchos?

Fun to make in neutrals, fun to wear in neutrals. All furry yarns should be banned permanently!

19. do you prefer straight or circular needles?

Depends on the project, but usually straight (as long as there isnt’ a lot of seaming)

20. how did you learn to knit?

Lady in Ankara, Turkey taught my sister & I .

21. how old is your oldest ufo?

I would put it at about 7 years, but it is the only one from other than the last few months.

that was fun. let’s all answer them!

Finally some photos! I am going to use the red multi that I spun to do a gift for my mom. I am so excited it will be the first of my spun yarn that I am making something with! As Thuy says “whoot whoot”!! I am just making some hats to sell here locally. Nothing exciting, it’s kinda work just pumping them out. I sure am glad that it’s almost the weekend though. Unfortunately it’s not going to be a beach weekend, curse you marine layer!! Staying inside with hot coffee & lots of yarn sounds really good right about now! My chair is calling!
