More finished stuff & a Start
I finished a pair of socks out of the Noro sock yarn. I am actually more pleased with the yarn than I expected to be. I have worn them a lot. Today I have them on with my new slippers that Tracy made me in trade for all the socks I make her. On that note, I started her Gingerbread Dude Silkie Socks that Rock socks on Christmas. I love that yarn. It’s just a simple ribbed anklet pattern.
I am making the Back to Basics sock pattern from Knitty with my Gingerbread Dude lightweight. It’s not my favorite pattern so I wont’ be making it again. I am not fond of the heel she chose and I find the sts fiddly, having to move them from needle to needle since I am making them on dpn’s instead of 2 circ’s. Someday I may try it again using magic loop.
I also finished the Chevron Scarf that I have had going since June. I finally took it out of the little sock project bag I had it in and realized it was plenty long! That was a nice surprise!
And, the Tuva slouch hat. All pics to come! I am going to post them individually to not eat up so much bandwidth ;o)
And on my doorstep when I arrived…
my Woolgirl Club package for the month of December
Who doesn’t need a Christmas Tree measuring tape?!?!?
I had no idea I needed one until I got mine!
Man I love being a member of the Woolgirl Sock Club! It’s so been worth it! I do believe that once my STR Gingerbread Dude lightweight & silkie socks are both done I will be casting on for these babies!
Reindeer Roundup
George’s choice of commemorative mugs for this trip to Disneyland, I love ’em!
Cowgirl Up
Disneyland Perfection
Our Disneyland trip went smmooooooth. Other than one minor meltdown on my part because George was having a hard time not stressing about work while we were gone. (I forgive him, he runs his own construction company for heavens sake.) My birthday yesterday went PERFECTLY! No meltdowns, tons of rides, presents….I love presents!
Tracy MADE, as in actually used her sewing machine, me a fantabulous wool & flannel scarf. Once I get the camera on again I promise pictures. I should have had her take them when I opened it! Why didn’t we think of that Tracy?? Darn, good moment missed. Anyways, it’s perfect. Lightweight, gorgeous mix of greens (my fave color of course) and browns. So very pleasing & useful! I use my scarves and this one is now front & center.
George bought me all Disney stuff cuz I am a freak when it comes to that. Matching mugs (tradition for every single time we go, we have way more mugs than I have room for in the kitchen but I DO NOT CARE), cutest t-shirt, fantastic frame for a picture of our group. Wanna see the picture?? Wanna??

Notice the hats? They were the most perfect hats I could have come up with! The stripes made it so easy to find eachother & we needed that! Plus, it was cool enough during the day that we wore them all of the time. Notice Sadie is in her Santa Goofy hat. She wasn’t so easy to find but it’s alright if she needs to be different ;o) Like mother, like daughter!
There are so many little details to talk about on this trip. 4 days tends to do that. Sunday morning Tracy and I went to Sephora for a 2 hour makeup marathon! We were there before opening, just us and 2 other gals, were taught all about face care (didn’t need much education there but the other gals did), then we had our makeup done by Sephora makeup artists (read: arteeessts). Rosy was my girl. She rocked! We decided we needed to go fun. We were on vacation man! Here I am

That was after a couple of hours, and she used way more foundation primer than I do so it felt like I had more of a mask on than normal, hence, the big wrinkles in the next picture

Sorry that was a super cheesy smile ;o)
Tracy also had fantasticly bright and fun makeup! I should leave it for her to show you but I just can’t!
We were beautiful & had so much fun looking like showgirls with all our clothes on!
There are many, many photos of fun magical things we did but for now that is all I have time for.
I LOVE DISNEYLAND!
CONGRATS TO ALI & ROSS
IT’S A (to be born in 20 more weeks) GIRL!
Their ultrasound is done & I couldn’t be more excited! The baby is healthy and so perfect in the pictures.
Finally I get to knit for a baby girl! The majority of babes lately have been boys and while they are fun to knit for they are harder to knit for than girls are. At least for me. I have no trouble coming up with magical, lacy, sweet items for girls. It’s hard to come up with manly, tough looking, badass boy clothes. ;o)
And, in case you didn’t know, I love babies.
Last minute knit gifts
I decided that my mom needed a handknit item for Christmas so I cast on a pair of socks using the Duet yarn in Cowgirl I bought from The Loopy Ewe just for such an occasion.
I am 2 rows away from being done with the short row heel. Then on to the solid stockinette foot and pink wedge toes! I am so happy with how this yarn is knitting up! It’s striping fantastically!
I cast on 66 sts using size 1 dpn’s. Worked 2″ in 1×3 twisted rib then switched to size 2 dpn’s and stockinette. Simple as that! I left 11 sts unworked on the short row heel. I used the wrapped stitch short row heel from More Sensational Knitted Socks. It’s a nice sturdy short row heel.
Tracy & I did our final Christmas shopping last night and I found mom the greatest spur key fob from Brighton.
She will love it being such a horse fanatic!
I also overloaded on Monogram mugs from Anthropologie for all the kids teachers & aides.
With a few bags of tea and possibly some swizzle sticks or honey sticks they will be all set! One of the best things about Anthropologie is that you get a fantastic gift box with tissue, ribbons & bows. Every year the ribbons & tissue are different. I will post once they are all packaged with pictures.
I love the Holidays!
Rowan, this one's for you!
So, you were saying a couple of weeks ago that on Ravelry you were seeing people with huge stashes. I got the distinct feeling you didn’t think mine compared ;o) hehehe
When I import my stash from ravelry into excel these are my totals: *don’t forget* not all my yarn is in ravelry yet*
Skeins: 1,058.5
Yardage: 241,509.3
Meters: 223,135.8
Grams: (this one isn’t really accurate because alot of american yarns don’t come with grams on the packaging therefore it’s not in the sum) 43,980
I wish I could say it’s all in perfect rubbermaid bins like some other peoples. Unfortunately, my house is tiny and I have to spread it out a bit more. I do have 4 bins in the shed, 3 in the garage, 2 in my office as well as a set of shelves in the garage with my cones on it, a large cabinet with 5 14″x40″x36″ drawers. It stands over 6 ft tall. 2 baskets in my office, 2 hat boxes in the house, 3 large baskets with wip’s in them as well as yarn. Oh and another bin in the office on the work desk. I think that is all. In ravelry I do have their actual place listed in the yarn description so I can find it. I have a good visual memory so I usually don’t have to hunt anything down. Then there are my canvas shoe boxes that house actual projects. There are 6 of them. So, that’s a lot of yarn.
DROPS cardigan #3
I love this pattern. It’s the most ingenious, fast knit ever made. Plus, I have had more compliments on the 2 I have made already than any other sweater I have knit. Talk about gratifying!!
This one has yet to be washed/blocked so don’t mind the uneven reverse stockinette and puffy seams. I just had to get it posted!
I purchased the button from Knit & Pearl a while back for another project and decided not to use it. I love it with this sweater!
I found that I really like the double seed with the reverse stockinette. It is simple yet it keeps your attention. I have cast on for a fourth with even more changes to the pattern. More to come when it’s finished ;o)
I also, finally, finished my dad’s black dress socks. I started them in March for his bday in April and just couldn’t get them done in time. 13sts/inch on size 00’s was a real pain in my butt! But, I did finish them just in time for Christmas!
I only have 3 hats left to make. They will be either zeebee’s or my own single crochet beanie pattern. And they don’t get shipped out so I can put off doing them until after our Dland trip. Nice!
And, I just found out this morning that my brother and sister-in-law are having a baby boy! Now I can start the knitting!
