I am more than happy that today is Thursday & there is knitting tonight! Yay for sbsn’b!!

I finished the back & both fronts for the kyoto. I have about 3 inches done on the first sleeve. I am now just waiting for the enrichment order from Elann. I am really excited about this sweater. I worried there for a couple of weeks that I wasn’t going to find a project to really be excited over but there was not need to worry! I just had to be reminded of some fun patterns out there that I had wanted to do for years!

Now if only I had the brainpower to start one of the sweaters from my new Norsk Strikkedesign book that I got for Christmas. My mom wants this sweater/jacket for Christmas next year.

 I am thinking that chunky woolease is the way to go with this one. I had better start it now if I seriously want to give it to her for Christmas this year, 2006! How much do you think it will cost?? Holy Crap! Good thing she likes inexpensive, washable, not 100% wool yarn!

And can someone explain why this book was a recommendation from Amazon for me?? What, do I really need to pretend & everyone, including Amazon, knows it but me??   WHATEVER!!

Okay, I either finished or quit all the stupid, frivilous projects I have been working on and started a new sweater.

No Suzanne, it’s not the one I started at Tracy’s house the other night. It’s a different one. One I think I will really enjoy working on and actually finish relatively quickly. I am using some yarn from my stash with a little enrichment from Elann for the bottom border color. These are the colors planned out.

 This is the main body color.

This is the color for the thin stripes that separate the body & border.

I am rather fond of the 3 colors & I think I will enjoy this sweater a ton when it is finished! I do think I will change the pattern design a little bit. That sewing the round bottom to the pieced top just is too much work for me. So why not pick up stitches around the completely pieced & sewn top half and then work the seed stitch down to the bottom & cast off? Anyone think this won’t work for any reason?? It seems a lot simpler to me to do it that way. I will take picking up stitches anyday compared to seaming. Plus it will be a much nicer joined edge. After looking around at finished kyoto pics on other peoples blogs I don’t like how you can see the seam of the bottom & top.

I started last night and have about 5 inches of the back piece done, simple stockinette stitch while watching the boob tube is boring but super fast! This morning I have it up to 10″. It’s a lazy day for me today because I want it to be. I am tired, bad dreams, bad sleep. So instead of beating myself up by cleaning the neverending mess that is my tiny house with 5 of us in it, I will knit. I really had no idea that living in a smaller house meant more cleaning. I honestly thought it would be less/easier cleaning. Dead wrong!! There is less space to organize so there are more things that float from room to room with no true place to call home. Pain in my rearend is what that is! The older my kids get the more crap they acquire and the more floating items. I seriously could walk circles through my house just picking thigs up, putting things down, picking things up, putting things down. I am not a ratpacker either. The only things that accumulate in my house are yarn, books and patterns. Other than that I have the Salvation Army come out for donation pickup at least 2 times a year. Sometimes more frequently. Thank God I don’t want to keep everything! Sometimes I kick myself when I realize I put something in the donation pile that should have gone in the laundry basket but oh well. Someone just made a great find at the SA store! Alright, enough about my woes on organization/cleaning. Back to the knitting!!

Look at my stuff!!

I am going to just start off  after my hiatus by posting whatever inspires me. So it will be disjointed for sure. There will be some stuff that is not knit related from our trip to Idaho & Utah but that is just life. I will eventually get over to the family website to update there also.

First off I must brag. I mom has been begging me for months to prepare George to make her a breakfront cabinet for her kitchen. Well we got there and the day after Christmas they had their plans all set & a take off list of lumber for the project. My dad & George set off on the morning of the 27th to the local lumber yard in Rexburg, ID to get what they needed to start. After a total of about 9 working hours this is what they ended up with.

Now 2 weeks later they have it all painted, antiqued and in the kitchen.

I love it! Jealous is what I am! I beg George constantly to make me things but here at home life takes over & he is too busy. He had a great time building it & my dad learned a lot so maybe now my mom will bug him instead of George for new, large wood items!

On to other things. I have been acquiring more yarn than I have been using. That is to be expected with a birthday and christmas back to back but now I have to figure out what the hell to make with it all! I am in a bit of a creative funk at the moment. I did receive books to help inspire me but I think I just need a month to recover from the holiday gift rush to really get my bearings & be truly motivated.

I am really excited to start the Secret Pal 7! Really excited because my new pal is accomplished and will be fun to spoil! Pics to come of gifts going out to her.

On the trip I finished some hats, a clapotis and not much else. I did finish a felted bag for a friend of my mom’s. I need to sew on the handles and maybe a clasp of some kind then off in the mail it goes!

I have read over a hundred email in the last 2 hours & am in dire need of a break now so I will see you all soon!
