Ravelry, the Blog Killer

If you have not joined Ravelry, or put your name on the waiting list, you must do it now. I have gone from posting almost daily to maybe once a week. Ravelry has taken over. And yes, it is for Crocheter’s too.

I still enjoy blogs. I like all the pretty pictures, the funny anecdotes about projects gone awry. But Ravelry has so much more. Friends and their stuff! Everyone’s stash & projects right at my fingertips for perusal. Little insights into past knits, future knits (way too many people have way too many projects in their queue’s, by the way) and current knits. Okay, and crochet’s. I promise there really are crocheter’s on there too.

I whole heartedly push you to join. Even if you aren’t an out of control fanatic like me there is more than you will ever need at your disposal.

I am waiting for something from UPS to arrive then tomorrow a real post with many, many pictures including knit goodies.

Oh, there is another new shop in town! What has happened & why don’t I have one yet??

It’s name is Loop & Leaf, located at:

536 Brinkerhoff Ave. Santa Barbara, CA 93101

#yarnTitle#

I got the map from the site.

I have yet to actually go in the shop. Hopefully tomorrow evening before knit group. She’s open until 7pm, that is always a plus!

More once I visit.

  1. I have an open tab in Firefox for Ravelry, I’m in there all the time, it is a whole fun world for sure!

  2. I joined Ravelry, but I’m kind of meh about it, for the most part (I may be alone there, so please, no throwing rotting fruit my way!). I like blogs.

  3. I am right there with you on the yarn store front. Yarn stores should be like Starbucks, one on every block. And one of them should be mine!! 🙂

  4. Ravelry satifies so many of my needs, my blog is duplicative of it and not as well done. I’ve been thinking about discontinuing the blog and sticking with Ravelry. I’m just not that chatty, and I’m really after the show and tell, plus I can email all my friends there. I don’t think Loop and Leaf will disappoint you.:-)

  5. With the way it’s going we all may have our own in SB soon enough. Goleta could always use at least one good one too.

  6. The only reason I have kept my blog up is that I know there are those out there that aren’t on ravelry and still enjoy blogs. It’s just getting hard to keep up both equally.

  7. I can totally understand that actually! The first few months after they started I was not so into it. I didn’t do anything with my profile for at least 2 months. Then once more people were signing up and updating the database I became more interested. It’s a great resource to at least be signed up for.

  8. Do you really, really promise that there are crocheters on Ravelry? Everything I see says knitter, knitter, knitter. And oh man, one more thing to try and keep up? Not sure I could ever make it. Or maybe, one more thing to feed my addiction? Maybe…
