Striped sweater complete….now frogged….

Okay so I don’t know what is wrong with my brain lately & not knowing what size I am. I measured my hips, waist & body length. Figured my gauge & then cast on for my striped sweater. Yeah I finished it & it is way too big around my waist & hips. Plus it is a little shorter than I would like it to be. So it is being frogged as we speak & it will be reknit into the same but different item. I love the colors, the stripes, the no sewing, the cap sleeves, the neckline, just not how frumpy it is without skimming my body. So there goes that!

In case you haven’t been there, you must go see the marvelous organization skills of Tracy & her yarn collection.

We went camping this last Thurs & Friday nights up off of the 154 on Paradise Rd. For being under a thousand foot elevation it wasn’t terrible, just a lot of dirt & oak trees. I prefer mountain misery & pine trees but I will take camping when & where I can get it. It was a fast trip, not much planning so I can’t complain. It was a nice change from home. I did work on the camping sweater but it’s not close to finished. I still have the hood & 2 sleeves to work on. My striped s/s sweater has drawn my attention away from the camping sweater a bit. So selfish of me, I know!

We are having a LOTR marathon today so I should get back to it! Pictures of the completed striped sweater, before frogging, to come soon!

Thursday night rocked the house!

Quite the nice turnout for out thursday night back at Java Station. 2 new people came, Tawny & Betsy. Oh & I got to meet Oliver, Suzanne’s man! Nice, nice, you go girl!

I was in my own little world a bit with Tracy, Tawny & Betsy but it was really nice to see everyone & reconnect after the last few months of hit & miss on Monday nights. Of course all the knitting projects were phenomenal! I just love our group!

Today I am working on the hot lava & of course Sadie’s bedspread. I figure I am about 1/3 of the way done with the latter. I keep thinking that I am going to actually do a pattern repeat of the stripes so I don’t have to keep making decisions on what color should come next & how many rows. Yeah…that isn’t happening! I just can’t give up the control over the stripes! I love them & I must stripe as I see fit.

The hot lava was cast on, ribbing finished in about an hour. Then I put it down for the rest of the week & worked on it again for the first time last night at knitting. Gotta love how fast circular knitting goes! I am almost to the armpit after an hour this morning. Somehow I keep finding myself on this damn contraption looking at more patterns! What, 8 binders isn’t enough? Crikey woman, you only have so many hours in the day to knit! I try to tell myself that but it’s not working so well. Okay I need to go & do something, anything productive!

So not in the mood…

to clean the house (already done with much jaw clenching & swearing under my breath), to hang out with the kids (Home on the Range is getting really old, really fast), to cook dinner (but I feel horrible for making my awesome hubby do it), to blog about much and last but not least, I am not in the mood to tackle some stupid project that I have started & never finished!

So there you have it, just an overall grumpy ogre attitude this evening. I want to do something fun but won’t force my husband to watch the kids for a 3rd night in the past week. THey are his kids too, you are right. But would I like to be abandoned at bedtime 3 nights out of the week so he could go have fun?? NO!! No, that would not make me happy at all

Therefore, I think I will go change into some comfortable clothes, turn on the boob-tube, pick one of my thousands of knitting projects & just go comatose on my chair. Sucks, but that is the way it goes sometimes!

Organization is the key!

Sadly I have more yarn than I can handle right now. I wish I could sit & just knit it all up but then I go to the store (online or LYS) and find more pretty things that I need to have. So I have decided that I will finish a few more of the projects I have going before I start something new. I found a whole bag of the cervinia sorrento grey yarn that I am making George’s sweater out of so I can work on that. Also, Tracy’s mom, Denise, has graciously decided to send me her knitting machine!! AWESOME!! Yay!! Once that is here I will easily be able to whip up some fun items to deplete my yarn stash. THen I will have room for more, teeheehee ;o)

Knitting group was fun last night at Java Station, didn’t get much accomplished other than looking at my new Rowan magazine. I have to say I can’t wait until I have room for some more yarn because wow! There are some fabulous patterns in this issue!

Sorry no pics yet…just trying to unpack & get my house semi clean & organized. Why do trips cause so much chaos & dirt? Laundry is normally not something I mind doing but when it is overflowing out of my 6 baskets ( I am a big separator)  in the laundry room it’s a problem!

Still waiting for my yarn from Hand Painted Yarns. Unfortunately I think they oversold & had to wait for more to be made & sent to the US before I get mine. I love their yarns & have had great contact & service with them before, so I am sure it is a fluke.

Now I must stop dilly dallying & go get some crap done!

Reality strikes again~

Okay so the reality that I have too much yarn has struck! So last night I started an afghan for George (my hubby), I worked on the sleeve of my stripey sweater, sewed the handles on my felted striped bag and then just felt guilty for having so much yarn in my stash! So I am now going to start setting aside yarn & patterns together so that when I am ready for some new project I can just grab the one of my choice & go! I am a smart cookie!

Yeah, so I am going now…no really, I am going…..okay so I am lazy & I dont’ want to go do it! It’s much more fun to come up with a great organizational idea than actually act on it & get something accomplished. Fine, I will go do it! I will let y’all know how it turns out! Ciao!
