I am totally selfish

This post is one of the hardest posts I have done in a long time.

SIGH
OKay here goes!

craftessentialsisclearingouttheiryarnmakingroomformore. sothereisalotofgoodstufffor$2and$3aballthatnormallywouldbeover$10aball.

Whew, that was hard to get out. I am totally selfish & want it all for myself but I was there this morning & spent more than I should have. Just so you all know. I bought all the cascade 220 that was on clearance. Unless they mark down more today you are out of luck!!   Yes, I am evil!! There wasn’t a ton of the greatest yarn but what is on clearance is super cheap! Especially for them, not just marked down $.49 or $1 like usual. It’s actually on clearance! SO there you have it, I confessed & now you all can go binge on yarn like I did this morning!

Natural Saturday

Any day at the Museum of Natural History in SB is a good day! Today was one of those days. George & I (with the boys, Sadie was at a bday party) met Tracy and had a nice meander around the museum. From May – September they have a Butterflies Alive exhibit. Here in Santa Barbara we have one of the largest Monarch butterfly migrations in the world. Hence, a fantastic exhibit! There were some of the most amazing butterflies & moths, not just monarchs. I suggest if you live in the area or will be visiting to go check it out before September 11th, that is when it closes for this year. If not this year then plan to go see it next year for sure! It is so pleasant, beautiful, it smells GREAT and you could just sit & relax in there all day. I WUVED IT!

So now we are home on this here yucky overcast, really humid although not too hot, day.

I made a beanie for one of sadie’s friends birthday today. Here are some pics. It’s crocheted with some kind of lame looking wave. I could have done better on it, I just didn’t have the time, energy or normal level of perfection. Considering he is an 8 year old boy I don’t count on him keeping it his whole life. It was fun to make though. Here are a few pics with Sadie modeling.

Like I said, not perfect but good for a kid & superfast! 2 hours worth of work. Woolease yarn, simple!

My goal for tonights knitting is to complete Sadie’s bedspread. All I have left to do is work 12 more rows, bind off, then start the edging. Once done I will post pictures! Should be fun!!

More finished projects

So here is an update on finished & started projects:

I finished the blue cabled shrug from interweave knits. I love it!! It is a piece that will get a lot of use here by the ocean! Of course I couldn’t leave the pattern the way it was written, I decided to make ties instead of having the front cross over & pin shut. I like the ties better than having to mess with pins or broaches.

I started a fun hooded vest out of handpaintedyarn superbulky merino wool in pagoda that I got in trade from Tracy. In the round with deep 2×2 ribbing on the bottom and the hood is 2×2 rib also. Now I just have to sew a zipper in, no problem! Knit on size 11’s this went really fast & is a very functional piece of clothing!

Someday I will have a whole section of free patterns but as of now I just don’t have the attention span to work on it.

I have cast on a blanket for my daughter. Using some really soft cotton boucle yarns in red, pink, purple, blue and green. I am planning a simple striped pattern that will end up twin size for her bed. Rose our beautiful pain in the ass lop bunny has chewed up her afghan I made her as a toddler into quite a few pieces. At first i thought it might be salvageable but looking at it yesterday I decided it’s not. Shame too, it was gigantic! I will have to take a couple of pictures to demonstrate the destructiveness of bunnies on yarn items!

I will go cross some items off my list of projects now!

Ciao!
