CONGRATS TO ALI & ROSS

IT’S A (to be born in 20 more weeks) GIRL!

Their ultrasound is done & I couldn’t be more excited! The baby is healthy and so perfect in the pictures.

Finally I get to knit for a baby girl! The majority of babes lately have been boys and while they are fun to knit for they are harder to knit for than girls are. At least for me. I have no trouble coming up with magical, lacy, sweet items for girls. It’s hard to come up with manly, tough looking, badass boy clothes. ;o)

And, in case you didn’t know, I love babies.

Last minute knit gifts

I decided that my mom needed a handknit item for Christmas so I cast on a pair of socks using the Duet yarn in Cowgirl I bought from The Loopy Ewe just for such an occasion.

I am 2 rows away from being done with the short row heel. Then on to the solid stockinette foot and pink wedge toes! I am so happy with how this yarn is knitting up! It’s striping fantastically!

I cast on 66 sts using size 1 dpn’s. Worked 2″ in 1×3 twisted rib then switched to size 2 dpn’s and stockinette. Simple as that! I left 11 sts unworked on the short row heel. I used the wrapped stitch short row heel from More Sensational Knitted Socks. It’s a nice sturdy short row heel.

Tracy & I did our final Christmas shopping last night and I found mom the greatest spur key fob from Brighton.

She will love it being such a horse fanatic!

I also overloaded on Monogram mugs from Anthropologie for all the kids teachers & aides.

With a few bags of tea and possibly some swizzle sticks or honey sticks they will be all set! One of the best things about Anthropologie is that you get a fantastic gift box with tissue, ribbons & bows. Every year the ribbons & tissue are different. I will post once they are all packaged with pictures.

I love the Holidays!

FINE! I will give in to another ~along

I won’t join the official chevron~along yet but I did start one. Using STR in Puck’s Mischief & another ball of lightweight that I had on hand (I lost the ballband on that one so I can’t say for sure what color it is, it’s over a year old I know that) and my Addi lace needles which I love so dearly.

I didn’t knit much at all this week but I did get some done on the sleeves of Stacy’s sweater.

She has tiny arms and wanted a fitted sweater so this is what she’s getting. It’s been fun to incorporate the increases into the pattern. When it’s a little longer you will be able to see it a little better.

I wanted to share a photo of the February sweater from The knitter’s almanac using CTH Superglitz in serengeti.

I know I have mentioned this before but I love the construction and design of this sweater. It’s so ingenious! That EZ is/was one magnificent lady!

I also thought I would share my vintage apron collection. It’s not put out the way I want at the current moment but here are a few shots just for fun.

Those are my crocheted aprons, collected from ebay.

Not the best way to display them but soon I will go through & make it more pleasing to the eye. I have these 20+ to either switch out or just add to the collection. I haven’t decided if I want them all out or if I want them to be cycled through.

In all I have about 60 in my collection at this point. It’s really an addiction. But can’t you call all collections addictions? They 2 words are synomymous in my book.

Today is a good day, so far

Ellwood Mesa has the most amazing Monarch butterfly preserve. Just amazing.  There weren’t as many butterflies there this morning as in December or November (from what I have heard about this years migration from other visitors) but it was still amazing to see them all hanging there like clumps of dried up dead leaves.

And, it got my walking for the day done. I would guess at about a mile and a half total with all the circles we did trying to get good viewing of the butterflies.  So that puts my total at 3.9miles/100miles. I swear, I am going to do my best to accomplish that 100. (even if I have to start wearing a pedometer whenever I leave the house)

Knitting last night was fun, I was tired but it was fun. I got rid of a ton of yarn from my stash, thanks to all who took some! It helps my conscience a lot to know I may be contributing to someone elses stash instead of my own ;o) I didn’t get a chance to chat and hang with the other half of the group across the way from me so next week may call for a change in our seating arrangement, I will insert myself somewhere I don’t usually sit just to mix it up.

I havent’ really knit much at all in the last 2 days. Too busy with school, business stuff and general crap to be done. Not even any cleaning, which means my house is in complete disarray! And I haven’t done any more work on inventorying and cataloging my stash. That will come along soon just so I can be done with it.
