Bags are good, bags are fun!

Made 2 bags this weekend. Will post pics later today sometime. Using Patons marino in stripes I did a square style bag that I am going to put some fun handles on. The other bag I used a pattern off of magknits.com and used cascade 220 in a red/pink/orange mix. Love them!

This weekend was productive for knitting & organizing. I am trying to do swatch samples of all my yarns so that I can just open a book & see what yarn I have in each guage. So far it’s been pretty useful. I hope to do more in the next couple of days.

Oh! Oh! Off of the knitting topic… about a year ago my mom gave me a set of clear glass dishes from the 70’s. They have a type of starburst ridged pattern on the bottom side of them. So I thought they were fun but then I had the great idea to get some glass paint & paint the under side of them in radiated colors ( I will post pictures so you can actually see what I am talking about not just guess ;o)) LOVE THEM!!! And since the plates were free it’s no trouble to pay for the glass paint $5 a bottle! Yay! So fun!

Duh!

Okay so I figured out that with the classic elite provence that all flaws in knitting show up! Lame, I actually have to use a sz 2 needle to purl with & a size 2.5 to knit with. I have never had a problem with doing one tighter than the other but my sleeves were coming out ridged! So I fixed that problem but I just thought that was odd that I have never in my 18 years knitting experience had that happen before! That’s all, just had to share that with everyone….g’nite!

Whew! Lot of new project pics!

Lots of fun new pictures. Of course it is warming up so all the sweaters & hats & scarves are on hold. Good thing that poncho’s are so popular this summer! Fast , simple, stylish, what else could you ask for! Now on to a bag or two. Doing one felted out of cascade 220, then on to a striped bag out of patons classic marino. Really excited about that one!

Working on the sleeves to the stripey sweater. More on that later!

Another great night at the knitters group!

I just have to say how happy I am to finally have fellow knitters that can complete my sentences & thoughts for me (that’s you Laura ;o)) I finished the front of my rainbow version of the peppermint twist sweater out of S&B. So happy with how it turned out, especially since I decided to be daring & do my own stripe pattern after I screwed up the order given in the pattern. Very happy with it. I will get a pic posted tomorrow. Right nowI am waiting for the laundry to be done so I can go to bed. The men need work clothes!!

School is out so I am hoping to have many long days at home before I have to go to Idaho for our family reunion. I am hoping to find some fun yarn shops with something new to knit up on the trip. The drive alone should let me get at least one project done on the trip, 17 hours!!  Scary just thinking about it!

I also started an afghan for myself since I am the only one in the family that doesn’t have one yet! Something simple but fun, I will get a pic posted of what I started today.

So off to finish laundry & then bed!

Oh & Disneyland really is the happiest place on earth in case anyone is wondering!!

Well I finished another 2 ponchos in the last week, one for myself & one as a gift for a certain someone I can’t name because they read this blog.

Now I am determined to finish my striped sweater. I want it done for the fall & I know if I don’t get to it now while I am interested in it then it won’t get done. So overall I don’t have a ton of projects going. I am jonesin’ for a new afghan b/c I have some new fun yummy yarns to make it out of. But then there is the issue of guilt for not working on my mothers colinette absolutely fabulous throw first! Damn! Oh well I am an adult so I can do whatever I want!

SO at our knitting group on Monday we saw some really fun yarn that one of the girls was working with. It is a patterned yarn that finishes with an intarsia pattern. Must have some of that for those projects where you really feel accomplished while still being lazy! Yay!

So we are doing a trip to the happiest place on earth! Yay! <clapping hands with a silly grin> Not much knitting will happen this weekend that is for sure! But maybe I will make my pretty husband drive so I can do a little something. It’s only 2 hours so a hat would be a good project. Maybe a fun pattern I haven’t tried yet. Who knows. I will just have to show you when I get back!! l8r sk8r

I’m Back!!

Yay! So Tracy & I went to a knitters group last night that meets at a local coffee shop & it was so fun! I have to say that we will  be there every monday from now on!!

Once again i have renewed incentive to finish some of my projects. Unfortunately I got so d**n frustrated with my vogue knitting wrap tank that I frogged last weekend. Then last night at the knitting group I met a few women who knew how to do the wrap & turn! So I am going to reknit the front this week to have it ready for next Monday. I will do it on 7’s instead of 8’s this time though & just adjust the pattern to fit the new guage. The provence yarn just looks nicer knit up on smaller needles. So that is my plan & I am sticking to it! Happy knitting days are here again!

More yarn! No knitting!

So no time for knitting lately! I am spending all my time online shopping for yarn instead of actually doing something with it all! Lame!!

No pictures to post either…<sigh> oh well.

Did get a few cool books of patterns. Oh, and I got an Absolutely Fabulous Throw kit from Colinette for my mother for Christmas. Really excited about that one. Took my time & rolled all the skeins into balls.

SO that is all for now. Will start knitting soon, I promise!

WOW! Spas rock!

So Pismo Beach rocked! The move down wasn’t so bad for Tracy either. So happy to have her here now! Not much knitting progress was made though. I did take a crochet freeform poncho that I am working on with me. Got about a third of it done on the trip. Loved hanging out with Tracy’s parents, her mom is a craft freak like us. What is great is that she is seasoned so she has all the cool stuff that we get to borrow from her. It will be more difficult now that Tracy & I both live 400 miles away but I guess that is what planes are for!

I went through Denise’s crochet book stash & she has some of the coolest books (of which I was given permission to borrow but alas, I forgot them at her house). Can’t wait to try some of the filet crochet. I keep thinking that it would be great to buy one of the cute cotton tube dresses & do a filet neckline & straps. Too rad!

Mother’s Day just rocked! Went shopping in Pismo Beach after our massages. Great shoes!! Great dresses!! Dinner was just fabulous! Then we crashed! Driving for 6 hours in the morning did us both in! But overall the weekend was a smashing success! YAY for hunky husbands!!
