Back from Idaho

Whew! Amazing how fast that 2 weeks went! It sure would be nice if it was longer but unfortunately life must resume.

One of the best things is the HUGE surprise waiting for me when I got home. You see, my hunk of a husband couldn’t go with the 3 kids, Tracy & I, so he thought he would do some things around the house. Like buy me a new washer & dryer set~yeeha~ and completely remodel our bedroom!! I love it! I must say ‘queer eye’ has nothing on my hunk!

SO I must resume my usual knitting & crocheting habits. I did acquire a few new goodies while on our trip, I will put up some pics soon. Til’ something exciting happens, ciao!

Current happenings

Blah day today but a lot has been happening on the knitting front! Went to the knitting group last night at Java Station. Met one new lady, Julie, very fun! Laura & Mary were there. So a very small group, but intimate & pretty darn entertaining!

I finished a couple of christmas gifts for my sisters family. All 5 girls are getting something hand made, that is my goal & I am sticking to it! I also love working on my pagoda hooded sweatshirt. So much that I am making one for my daughter out of some uruwool that I got a while back. Also I am have a very lofty goal for myself while I am on my trip to Idaho. I am planning on making my hubby (who cannot make it due to work) a sweater as a surprise gift! Yay! Hope that works out well, sometimes on a trip you find you never pick up the project you bring with you~ that is why I have a goal!

My youngest son is the only child without a handknit sweater. Don’t know why that is but it’s something else that must be remedied quickly! I am doing pretty good at not purchasing more yarn but I found a seller on ebay that is selling huge lots & they are kinda irresisteble.

Lame! oh well! Get while the getting is good I suppose! I just have to finish more projects…more…more…more!

Another poncho complete~ Can I make anything else??

Okay so I finished another poncho last night. They are just so fast & fun! It’s nice to feel accomplished after a yucky week like this one. Weather isn’t much better, there is a little sun today. Full moon tomorrow so there is no sleeping being done in my household. I dont care what anyone says it affects the genetics in our family immensely!

I also started a new rectangle poncho out of uruwool’s scarlet marino wool. I bought it off of Ebay from their store. You can see the yarn on their website  www.uruwool.com

I went through some of my yarn stash that I hadn’t gone through in a while. It is all yarn that I have set aside for projects or projects that are started & not finished. Got all the yarns sorted & together with their respective projects. Feel really good about that! It has been so wet & muggy here that my kool aid yarn still isnt’ dry! It has been 3 days! I can’t wait to knit a swatch up! I leave for my family reunion in a week & the driving is going to suck! But it will be worth the effort. So there you have it! More later with some pics.

Enough of the June Gloom!!

Unfortunately here in Santa Barbara we are all in deep June Gloom~ nasty, yucky, depressing marine layer. You wouldn’t know that it is June! So needless to say we are all in a bit of a funk. I got some more yarn from Sanfelipe Santiago yesterday. GOt a new book too, spent $30 on the book…I really liked the simple yet fun patterns. Can’t remember the name of the book though. Lame! SO I actually have a little work to do today (other than taking care of 3 munchkins, that is) hence I must go. More later!

I’m lazy, I will admit it!

Okay so I suck & I am lazy! I haven’t done any pictures or sent the poncho out for “special person”‘s bday yet! Lame of me I am sure! SO eventually I will get caught up on all my crap & get my life together again.

On a happy note…George & I got to go to Pismo Beach for the weekend with NO kids! Miraculous!! We stayed at the Cliffs Resort in a suite with an awesome layout. No pics because I was too busy doing other things!   Tracy was kind enough to watch the kids overnight…trooper that she is! It doesn’t hurt that we paid her, we love her!

Tracy & I did something today that we have been wanting to do for a while…kool aid dyeing (sp?). We bought some cheapy fishermans wool (Lion Brand) and used tangerine kool aid on one end & cherry kool aid on the other end. It is in the kitchen sink drying right now. I will go do a pic actually! Okay done! now I will go add them so you all can actually see them!

Reality strikes again~

Okay so the reality that I have too much yarn has struck! So last night I started an afghan for George (my hubby), I worked on the sleeve of my stripey sweater, sewed the handles on my felted striped bag and then just felt guilty for having so much yarn in my stash! So I am now going to start setting aside yarn & patterns together so that when I am ready for some new project I can just grab the one of my choice & go! I am a smart cookie!

Yeah, so I am going now…no really, I am going…..okay so I am lazy & I dont’ want to go do it! It’s much more fun to come up with a great organizational idea than actually act on it & get something accomplished. Fine, I will go do it! I will let y’all know how it turns out! Ciao!
