A realization, not a big one, just a new one!

I just realized this morning that I haven’t put any pictures of completed baby things on my blog! Duh! It’s really been years since I have done any sweaters & such. Although, I did find a bag with all the finished pieces of a baby boy sweater. I hate finishing! But I will now finish it because my sister in law is pregnant & even though she isn’t finding out what the sex of the baby is I am sure it is a boy!

Also I hit my LYS this morning & bought some tiny needles, sz 1’s 2’s & 3’s, to work on my stripey sweater sleeves. Funniest story, well not so much funny as just frustrating~ my kids bunny ate my copy of stitch ‘n bitch so my friend Thuy gave me the pages that were eaten so I could finish my project. Well I pulled it out to work on it some more last night, thinking that I will never get it finished if I don’t,  and could not get the measurements to work.

DUH! I realized that there were corrections that I hadn’t paid attention to after I downloaded them off of the internet. Lame! So I frogged 13″ of the sleeve, to my husbands delight (he loves the ball winder, it’s the gadget guy in him). Started over & now I am devoted to getting at least this sleeve done this week! As well as work on other lame projects I have. Nothing is screaming “finish me! you will LOVE me if you just finish me & wear me!” So I am just dilly dallying on all projects. Current list of projects:

-stripey sweater (back done, one sleeve cast on)

-sweater for George (front & back done, one sleeve cast on)

-Labrador sweater for Sadie (Only have to sew it together, not much motivation considering she can’t wear it for at least 2 more months here)

-stripe/argyle sweater for sister for Christmas (back 1/3 way done)

-blanket for George~ it’s just too damn summery to make a blanket right now~

-Ummm….that might be it for now, oh no, elite yarn provence green cross-over tank out of the vogue before last.

If I dig I am sure I could come up with many more! So I am going to focus once again & get some of this crap done!!!

Bored on a Saturday

Finally some sunshine around here!! Of course it didn’t show up until after noon but that is better than nothing! Tracy & I were downtown for a while, hit the one decent thrift store, Pier 1, Global feet & had lunch at a sandwich shop. Fun to be out but now I am home. I stopped at my LYS & bought myself a ball winder with my 40% off coupon, buttons for the poncho I started on Friday & some size 4 circ & dp needles. Gonna do up some fun smaller stuff.

There has been so much chunky stuff that I am feeling the need for some more delicate work. I am working on George’s sweater & the poncho right now. I started a sweater on Thursday while my son Tyler was having oral surgery, its not my favorite right now. But maybe next week I will like it better. I am going to go do some pics before it gets too dark outside.
Ciao!

Finally some pictures!`

Whew! I finally just did the pictures! Why is it so hard to make yourself do something?? Like finish blocking these projects?? I went to linens and things last week & bought the stackable square drying racks  so that I actually have somewhere to block my items, instead of on the windowseat pillows in my bedroom. So now I just need to get through some more laundry & get it done!

Today is my son Tyler’s dental surgery so I am trying to decide what I want to take to work on. I will have at least 2 hours to kill. Maybe a new project needs to be started. Hmmm….

My yarn still isn’t here!!! I won another auction from them off of ebay & I am hoping that maybe it will come faster than the online store order.  Not sure what I am going to do with it yet, but I can’t wait to get it!

Off to prepare for surgery! Hope all goes well….

Organization is the key!

Sadly I have more yarn than I can handle right now. I wish I could sit & just knit it all up but then I go to the store (online or LYS) and find more pretty things that I need to have. So I have decided that I will finish a few more of the projects I have going before I start something new. I found a whole bag of the cervinia sorrento grey yarn that I am making George’s sweater out of so I can work on that. Also, Tracy’s mom, Denise, has graciously decided to send me her knitting machine!! AWESOME!! Yay!! Once that is here I will easily be able to whip up some fun items to deplete my yarn stash. THen I will have room for more, teeheehee ;o)

Knitting group was fun last night at Java Station, didn’t get much accomplished other than looking at my new Rowan magazine. I have to say I can’t wait until I have room for some more yarn because wow! There are some fabulous patterns in this issue!

Sorry no pics yet…just trying to unpack & get my house semi clean & organized. Why do trips cause so much chaos & dirt? Laundry is normally not something I mind doing but when it is overflowing out of my 6 baskets ( I am a big separator)  in the laundry room it’s a problem!

Still waiting for my yarn from Hand Painted Yarns. Unfortunately I think they oversold & had to wait for more to be made & sent to the US before I get mine. I love their yarns & have had great contact & service with them before, so I am sure it is a fluke.

Now I must stop dilly dallying & go get some crap done!

Wow! It has been a while!

Another trip to Disneyland this weekend, leaving today, in about 20 minutes! Yay!!

I have accomplished quite a lot the last couple weeks…pagoda sweatshirt is done, labrador sweater for Sadie is finished, 2 hats with sassy stripes yarn. Unfortunately I ran out of yarn for George’s sweater, have to buy more from smileys yarns. I started a wrap jacket with chocolate bulky wool from Uruwool. Very excited about that!! Saw the jacket at Bebe yesterday in the window, what a fashionista am I?? Also saw a very cute poncho at the gap that I may try to mimic. Didn’t like all the design so I will just adjust to my liking.

Last night I went to the meetup at Muddy Waters, downtown Santa Barbara, and oh boy was it interesting. There was a band there that was trying to make enough money to make it to Burning Man, yeah, that should explain how funky they were! I know a lot of “normal” people that go, or have gone, but these folks didn’t meet the “normal” criteria. More on that when I get back from the Happiest Place on Earth.

Ciao!!

Oh & more pics will be posted of finished & new projects! Bad ass!

So for todays post….

We are going to add onto my list of started, but not finished, projects…

Labrador sweater for little girl

Cotton bag for niece

New poncho for myself

Cotton crocheted bucket hat (similair to bottoms up hat but in crochet)

Great stuff huh??

I am just about to rip my hair out! I am going to finish something over the weekend, I do believe I will pick the pagoda hooded sweatshirt! If I can actually put in enough time on it. Weekends get hectic around here! We’ll just have to see!

See?? I told you I was a diamond in the rough!

You’re a Diamond. You seem like a cold and an unreachable person outside, yet you are beautiful inside and outside. You may be stubborn at times. You act with grace and elegance and you are a precious asset to all your friends.
Paste this code into your web page to show off your result to others:

Just have to love all the online quiz sites! I am a diamond, I know it’s shocking at first but I have always known it to be true!

SO nothing exciting happening today, had the carpets cleaned this morning so I am trying to keep my lil’ devils off of it with popsicles & chocolate! I think I am going to work on my pagoda sweatshirt for a bit, then rip out my hooded scarf because now I want to felt it. I loved the yarn so I dont feel so bad for ripping it out. Oh, oh!! I ordered some new yarn from www.handpaintedyarn.com GORGEOUS!!

More later!

Great lunch!

So last night was our bad to the bone knitting group at Java Station! Fun as always &  a great surprise, Thuy was there! SO Tracy, Thuy, Erin & I all stayed a little later than the rest & just chatted it up! I am so happy with the radical women in this group! As a matter of fact a group of us went to lunch today & had a great time. Kind of last minute plans last night as we were all leaving. Thuy kinda was the bonding factor in it all, we wanted to get another visit in with her before she had to leave in a couple of days.

On the knitting front, I have done it again! Started a dozen projects & finished none….grrrrr….frustrating! Let’s tick the list off, shall we?

Sweater for hubby George

Sweater for daughter Sadie

Hooded sweater for myself

Stripey sweater for myself

Blanket for hubby that just isn’t gonna get finished

Hooded scarf (started & almost finished last Sunday but short one ball)

Oh, and of course today we stopped into the lys & I found one pattern book I have been hunting for for months. And 2 other Katia books that had great patterns! The yarn isn’t available anymore but anything of the same guage will work.

I am determined to finish at least one of these damn projects this week. I keep thinking ” oh just start & finish something smaller to make yourself feel better”. So I start something, like the hooded scarf, and end up one ball short!! Lame!! Can yah tell I am just a tad bit frustrated with myself? <sigh> That is the way life goes, it just is not fair.

Overall it’s a happy life, just not a fair one!
