tsk, tsk…..

My 6 year old autistic son, Tyler, has absconded with a number of important items in the past week.

1- digital camera (um…yeah…kind of a big one)

2- all eyeglass cases

3- almost all pens (I have a distinct feeling that they are in the eyeglass cases)

4- my little tiny needlework scissors

So I guess that means that I get to do a thorough search of all the hiding places. Lately I haven’t even been able to find those!

On the knitting front, it’s been a busy Saturday so not a whole lot got done. But I did take the folder from Thuy that is holding all of my circ’s & dpn’s and label each page very nicely. I was planning to take a pic & post it today but that just ain’t gonna happen!

I worked on the bag for my niece a bit then decided that I should switch to 10 1/2’s instead of 10’s. So I did. I didn’t even frog back to the beginning of the body of the bag. DOn’t think it will make that much difference in the look. If anything it will help give the bottom more defenition & strength. (Can you tell I am totally making this up as I go along to make myself feel better for not really giving a rip about doing it totally perfect?)

I have decided that I am going to put up a couple of free patterns to pass on to all of you out there. Don’t know when this will happen. Soon hopefully. THen I expect comments & feedback on how they work out. Nicely or not so nicely.

Tracy & Cristy (sp?) stopped by for a moment. Glad that Tracy has a friend for the weekend, it’s the perfect weather & I am sure they will just rock SB tonight!  Party on girls!!

I am hoping that Monday morning we (Tracy, Summers & I) can make it up to Solvang. I have somethings I need to drop off at my sister in laws house. Then we can hit the spinning shop & maybe the yarn stores up there. It’s so pretty!! Can’t wait until all the holiday lights & such are lit up there. It’s so festive!

I went through all of my books & magz today & put bookplates in them so if I lend them out the person lending them will have some clue who to return it to. I think I may be the worst at that, Tracy would know! I don’t think I will do that with my 8 binders of patterns that I have downloaded & purchased off of the internet. That is a grand plan, but not for today.

Freaky Friday

I love pizza & movie Fridays. Unfortunately I didn’t get the kids a movie (Garfield), only Lost In Translation for George & I. Thank you Summers for the loan!

I have been working on a bag, for who I will not say. I also decided that the sweater I was pushing to give my mom for Christmas just isn’t going to happen with all the other gifts I am doing. Besides the point, it is an additional gift for her, not the sole gift. I am thinking it would be a perfect Mother’s Day gift. Now my mind is a little at ease about finishing everything before our trip up there for Thanksgiving.

Mary emailed me today with a good idea that I am going to run past everyone Monday at knitting group. Christmas exchange of some kind. Maybe not secret pals but some kind of gift exchange. We will have to see who is interested & what will work best for our group. Comment or email me with any thoughts, suggestions or ideas about it.

Unfortunately my son Tyler has “misplaced” my digital camera so there will be a lack of photos for who knows how long. Crazy children drive me bonkers!

Happy Tuesday!

Yay! It’s raining & I love it!

Monday night knitting was a blast!! Thuy is going to be here a week every month!! She came  bearing gifts last night…mmm….candy…mmm…gum…oooh…pretty stickers & binders from Japantown in SF. Thanks so much! Woohoo!! I am just so in love with the mix of ladies in our group! Laura was able to make it after her site council meeting. Nice! We have a meetup this week on Wednesday also so it’s just a knitting frenzy around here!

*I need to get the contact list updated & emailed out, it will get done today or tomorrow*

Summers, the new love of my life, gave me (in trade, eventually she will come raid my stash) some of her kool aid dyed mohair. I balled it all up last night after I got home. Oh, oh! I almost forgot! Tracy & I stopped into Alpha thrift store before knitting last night & found the steal of the century on circ needles! 17 sets for $1 each!! Lots of size 5’s & 8’s but there were some 0’s, 1’s, 3’s, 9’s & 11’s also. Now I just need to straighten out their cords. Boiling water, it’s a good thing!

Gotta go get my hubby some tea, he’s now got a sore throat! Sad for him

A little spin

Oh how do I love the merino roving from handpaintedyarn ?? The lettuce color is spinning so nicely! It’s the easiest roving to spin so far, the draft of it works so smoothly. Have no idea if any of the wording of my description is “correct” in spinning terms but that’s how it works in my brain!

I have those 2 hanks of the merino/silk that I can’t decided what to do with. I will get at least that much more out of the roving that I have left. I suppose I could order more & use it for a sweater. It would be gorgeous knit up into a v-neck sweater. My brain is a-workin’!

I just spent 2.5 hours working on my yarn/craft/sewing area in the garage & there should still be enough room to park the car too. Yay! Since I haven’t got the sunroof closed all the way and there is  a chance of showers tomorrow. I have the table up now so I can actually get out my knitting machine & start using it. I will have to beg Tracy for assistance I am sure! I think I will do a blanket first. I already know the yarn I want to use.

I found an 8 pound cone of some acrylic homepun type yarn but it is not soft at all. I think my plan was to make a rug out of it. I think I will try it on the machine but I really don’t think there is much chance of it working, too bumpy. So far I haven’t had the chance to sit & knit today. I could go do that now and get some progress made on my list of Christmas gifts.

~Mom’s coral sweater

~Absolutely Fabulous Throw

~Gray sweater for Dad

~Felted bag & poncho for Allie (niece)

~Cotton bag for Amanda (niece)

~Cotton bag for Amber (niece)

~Sweater for one of the twins (other twin’s is already completed)

Um…..

Oh yeah…

~Homespun shawl for mother in law

Yup, that is the christmas list! Of course I can always do beanies for my husband’s employees. Simple 20-something boys!

Another thing I have been thinking of doing is buying the  to do some really fun projects with my roving! It is on my amazon wishlist. I will of course put a link on the sidebar! I certainly wouldn’t want anyone to miss out on seeing what I desire so desperately to have!

Off I go to actually knit something!

Not much about knitting

I just finished watching How to lose a guy in 10 days and it was so good! I don’t know what’s wrong with me lately I am all mushy & emotional. And to those of you that know me well, that is not normal! I normally don’t cry at  Scrubs, I laugh! <sigh> So is being a woman I suppose.

On to knitting…I finally finished the underarms of Trevors sweater & will get a picture posted as soon as I can get him in it & looking cute! THe one linked above is not good!  Okay I will go do it now…you talked me into it!
