She talked me into it

The lovely beauty that Tracy is talked me into starting another project. SO unlike her, oh yeah, this one is FOR her!! teeheehee

She was rockin’ enough to purchase me one of these

from her cousin that gets them at a steal of a discount! It is so pretty & green & shiny!! I can’t wait for it to get here!!

I digress, in exchange for that lovely treat I am making her a circle blanket from Lion Brand. Only hers is going to have some better more fun colors instead of some of the drab ones. She will have the pleasure of posting pictures that I send to her as tantilizers!

On other knitting notes, I have done nothing today. I did break out the sewing machine & make some pillows for our couches.

Yesterday I had a whole post ready to go about what was on needles, what was finished, what was never going to be finished,  etc. Then my host decided to do dumb things & it never actually made it as a post.

I will fill all that in at a later date, I have kids asking about 10k questions!!

Natural Saturday

Any day at the Museum of Natural History in SB is a good day! Today was one of those days. George & I (with the boys, Sadie was at a bday party) met Tracy and had a nice meander around the museum. From May – September they have a Butterflies Alive exhibit. Here in Santa Barbara we have one of the largest Monarch butterfly migrations in the world. Hence, a fantastic exhibit! There were some of the most amazing butterflies & moths, not just monarchs. I suggest if you live in the area or will be visiting to go check it out before September 11th, that is when it closes for this year. If not this year then plan to go see it next year for sure! It is so pleasant, beautiful, it smells GREAT and you could just sit & relax in there all day. I WUVED IT!

So now we are home on this here yucky overcast, really humid although not too hot, day.

I made a beanie for one of sadie’s friends birthday today. Here are some pics. It’s crocheted with some kind of lame looking wave. I could have done better on it, I just didn’t have the time, energy or normal level of perfection. Considering he is an 8 year old boy I don’t count on him keeping it his whole life. It was fun to make though. Here are a few pics with Sadie modeling.

Like I said, not perfect but good for a kid & superfast! 2 hours worth of work. Woolease yarn, simple!

My goal for tonights knitting is to complete Sadie’s bedspread. All I have left to do is work 12 more rows, bind off, then start the edging. Once done I will post pictures! Should be fun!!

It was like….

there were 2 groups last night! When I arrived at 7pm Thuy, Suzanne, Melissa & Tracy were sitting all comfy at the best seating Java Station has to offer. It was Thuy’s first time rejoining the group since moving back to SB. Rockin’ to see her there working on, and finishing, a rad babies hat. Then around 7:40pm suzanne & thuy decided it was time to go. Ciao! Then within 5 minutes of them leaving another car pulled up, Summers & Jayme had arrived!! Woop woop! It really was like 2 different groups! Drumroll please…..then Mary arrived!!! Woohoo!! We haven’t seen her in a few months & she even had knitting with her this time! She had the coolest knitting book also. She kept a page with a swatch of the yarn, the yarn band & a drawing of the item she knit along with who it was for & when it was made. Fantastic! I thought my book of yarn gauge swatches was cool, this book was way better!

So we stayed until they started to turn the lights out on us! It was really fun!

I came home & planned out how I was going to finish the 2 projects that need to be done! The camping sweater & sadie’s bedspread. There is guilt that goes along with not having finished them by now. I have finished a handful of other things in the meantime.

I made a timeline & we’ll just see if I stick to it! I am not what you would call a time-structured person, I like to do what I want when I want without too many limitations. But I do accept limitations when needed, now is that time!

So off to finish something today!

Feelin’ good, feelin’ accomplished

So today was a rather productive knitting day. I finished a sweater that is for a great friend of our family. He has helped us out more than I could have imagined in the last 2 months so I thought he deserved something nice. Not just a card & gift cert to blockbuster or some such lame thing!

I love how it turned out, done in the round with raglan shaping & a roll crew neck. I could not have hoped for better! And it only took me a week and a half (mixed in with all my other crap I am doing). My man is a little lusty after it but he will just have to keep his eyes on his camping sweater. Although I could whip another one of the raglan’s out in no time compared to the camping sweater. I only have the sleeves, hood and assembly left on the camping sweater I just lost all interest. So mean of me, I know! But he may have to start knitting himself if he ever wants it finished! He grew up in Denmark, it’s his natural heritage to knit! I just can’t get him to do it even though he knows how! Whatever!

I also found myself working on the turtleneck scarf/shrug thing out of scarfstyle that I started like 6 months ago. Actually it is closer to 9 months ago that I started that thing! Oh well, tonight it will be complete. I used woolease and I like it because it’s soft & machine washable. Woolease rules! Love it lots, it rocks.

I also sent off my denise needle, it will be replaced & returned to me promptly! I don’t know how I am going to survive for the next little while being short one cord but at least it will stop me from casting on even more projects! I need saving from myself sometimes!
