surprise surprise

I was informed last week by the ever loving Tracy  that I would be getting a surprise by this coming Friday. Of course she didn’t hint to anything other than that. I didn’t know if it would be something in the mail, a phone call, a person, or what! So this morning she gives me another hint by asking when UPS shows up at my house. Now I am waiting with baited breath for the UPS guy to come!!! She has been good about not giving me any more hints, I am not a big surprise lover, I tend to let people down with my lack of a reaction. I have not been bugging her about letting me in on this little secret either! Just this once I will let it stay a surprise! Tracy is so excited today that I am now nervous about what the UPS man is bringing to my house! SO I thought I would share with all of you that I am waiting, patiently waiting for the big brown to arrive at my doorstep!

oooh, I found happy!

This pattern is so fun! It’s the perfect shaped cabled scarf! It has just that little bit of uniqueness that makes making scarves a must. I am not a huge scarf making fan although I do wear them often in the so-called winter here in Santa Barbara.

Of course $17 is a lot for a book of patterns that I will only use once to figure out how to do the shaping of the cable edges. So I think it’s something I am ready to experiment with myself. Maybe I can even hunt this here internet to find another brilliant knitter that has come up with a system! If not I guess I may have to tackle it…

Well I had such grand plans yesterday for what I was going to get accomplished. Then I got sucked into the america’s next top model marathon on vh1 with tracy & of course the kids went all annoying on me! So only 4″, very sad, got accomplished on the sleeve. I will have it finished today though! Not much farther to go so it’s not a stretch.

Tracy’s aran cardigan is so RAD!! I love the yarn, the color, the pattern, the feel. I love it all! So much so that I have the yarn, in pink, to make one for myself eventually. Got enough on my plate right now with sweaters and plans for sweaters. That is one that can wait patiently!

decisions, decisions

I have been in that funk lately of not being able to make  a decision in a normal, precise way. So much so that I keep finishing projects because I can’t decide what to cast on next. It’s a good thing, just not like me. Partially my problem has been allergies, I mean kick ass yucky, nasty, goopy allergies that are killing me! I can’t take anything with diphenhydramine in it because it makes me feel half drunk & narcoleptic no matter how small the dosage. So that leaves me with the loratadine meds that don’t clear out my sinuses period. So i just sneeze continually, blow my nose continually & don’t wear makeup due to the fact that at any given moment my eyes will itch like crazy & my eyelids will puff up out of control. So there you have why I haven’t been posting, I can’t concentrate.

I laid aside my 4 sweaters I am working on to make myself & my man some socks. Of course he promptly went out of town for the weekend with the socks so I don’t have a picture of his, but here are mine!

Easy, fast woolease on size 4’s. The ribbing is a 3x1x1 pattern. Simple yet so comfy & really, really fast!

I am feverishly working on the camping sweater for my man as a surpise for when he gets home tomorrow night. I have half a sleeve, the hood & then the assembly which is going to be a real pain in the butt! I have to sew the pockets down, sew all the seams then machine sew in the zipper plus do the i-cord for the hood. We’ll see if I can accomplish all that in the next 36 hours. Tracy is spending the night so it’ll be plenty of knitting time well into the wee hours of night. I wish I had more knitting pics to show but I just haven’t been taking pics of knitting, I have been too focused on the apad pics. Which I feel have been lacking in creativity lately.

Oh & I finally got my secret pal 6 info. Way excited about that! All that I get to send will be fab! I am in a gathering mode at the moment. I am hoping that she will want one big fun package near the end so that it can be a huge “voila” moment. If she wants smaller packages along the way of course I am cool with that too. Honestly I just hate having to go somewhere to mail packages, I am a procrastinator like that!

The only decision I have made (and it was made at 1:30am while I was trying to fall asleep) was a relatively easy one. My next project I am casting on for is going to be a black cardigan of my own design using the 1000 sweaters book. I need a black cardigan so very badly!! Every time I leave the house I reach for it but alas, I do not have one yet. And I know I could buy one but why when I could just make the exact style I want. I hate settling for something that isn’t exactly perfect when I could just make it!

Okay off to knit! Wish me luck on finishing the camping sweater!
