New February Brioche Class at the Studio

Thank you to everyone that has taken a class, or three, this last month at the studio. It has proven to be a great success.

I love January, the newness of the year.
I have been finishing projects right + left, sweaters, shawls, cowls, mittens, all pulled from my WIP pile. I have this nagging guilt about ongoing projects, but in my line of work it is rare that I get to work a project start to finish without something else popping up.
In all honesty, I could probably work on just WIPs for the next year solid and not finish them all (we’re talking close to 60 knitting projects + a dozen crochet).
If you are like me, and absolutely a floozy when it comes to casting on, go grab a project that is over 50% completed and get it finished!! It will feel so good, I promise!

If you are already registered in the March 7th Brioche class and would like to change to the new date, please don’t hesitate to contact me and switch!

2019-2020 ~The End + Beginning of Planners

I am one to evaluate after the fact more than plan ahead and set goals/resolutions.

One thing I am good at is keeping my planner up to date. My paper planner has been by my side for years, a lot of years. While I do my best to keep my digital calendars up to date, I have never found a way to have all my planner needs met digitally.

But, I am tired of hauling so many things around with me, everywhere I go. Planner, tablet, teaching handouts, project, etc.

I did a little research on digital planners and after some days of being unsure I dove in and bought one. It’s a pdf that has to be edited and then viewed. Not exactly a program, not an app. It can’t sync with other programs/apps to stay up to date, it is something that has to be done manually. That part makes me feel like I still have as much control as my undated paper planner system.

But, and this is a big but for me, it is limited to the format as it is (as far as I can see). I will be contacting the designer for a few tips and answers to my questions on using the planner, expanding the planner, customizing for my specific needs.

I didn’t want to spend time over the holidays working, but once I bought it I couldn’t let it be and wait to see if it was going to work for me. Call it the fear of buyer’s remorse. As of right now, after 4+ hours familiarizing myself with it, I just don’t know how to feel about it. I know I can’t go cold-turkey and drop my paper planner. I’d like to be moved over within a couple of weeks, if possible.

New systems take time. I like change, sometimes. I thought I would like this change, now I just don’t know.

Have you considered moving to an all digital planning system? Calendars, note + list keeping?

What have you found that works for you?

If you want to take a look at the digital planner I purchased (at a hefty holiday discount), you can find it on Etsy, https://www.etsy.com/listing/631939152/business-planner-printable-business

Hintermost Guided KAL – Starts Jan 16th

Deb Romero and I are happy to be hostessing a guided KAL at the studio beginning Jan 16th.

You can purchase the pattern through Ravelry, https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/hintermost

Dates: 5:30 – 7:30pm

January 16th

January 23rd

February 6th

February 20th

This pattern includes; brioche in the round, colorwork in the round, steeking

If you are not comfortable with any of these, this would be a good time to get over your fear through team effort. The brioche can be substituted with 1×1 rib on the cuffs and hem, if desired. There are some other simple tweeks that can be done without losing the visual appeal.

Don’t forget to bring your $5, call when you arrive to be let in to the secure studio building.

Looking forward to this squishy, wintery knit!!
