WOW! Spas rock!

So Pismo Beach rocked! The move down wasn’t so bad for Tracy either. So happy to have her here now! Not much knitting progress was made though. I did take a crochet freeform poncho that I am working on with me. Got about a third of it done on the trip. Loved hanging out with Tracy’s parents, her mom is a craft freak like us. What is great is that she is seasoned so she has all the cool stuff that we get to borrow from her. It will be more difficult now that Tracy & I both live 400 miles away but I guess that is what planes are for!

I went through Denise’s crochet book stash & she has some of the coolest books (of which I was given permission to borrow but alas, I forgot them at her house). Can’t wait to try some of the filet crochet. I keep thinking that it would be great to buy one of the cute cotton tube dresses & do a filet neckline & straps. Too rad!

Mother’s Day just rocked! Went shopping in Pismo Beach after our massages. Great shoes!! Great dresses!! Dinner was just fabulous! Then we crashed! Driving for 6 hours in the morning did us both in! But overall the weekend was a smashing success! YAY for hunky husbands!!

Movin’ on up….

Yay for moving my best friend this weekend!! Tracy is finally giving up all her lame friends & coming to live by the coolest friend ever…ME!!  Unfortunately it means having to fly to her house, pack the truck & drive for 8 hours! But fortunately for me it’s Mother’s Day the day we drive back so my perfect husband has decided to give us a spa package at a resort in Pismo Beach on our way home. Hello!! Nice break from driving & moving! Really excited about all that!!

Now, on the knitting front, there has been a break in anything productive happening. I made a cape for the kids to use as superhero dress up. Just a boring rectangle in St st then sewed to make the head hole. Nothing spectacular. Didn’t finish my other 2 tops for myself because the kids were demanding something fun for them to play with. Okay so they weren’t demanding it but it popped in my head & was really fun. SO I want to make a fun lacy poncho for myself before I leave on my trip but I am not sure that it’s possible in a day & a half with a ton of errands to run. I will start & take it with me to work on on the plane & such.

So that is that & I will post to let everyone know how awesome Mother’s Day was!

Hot Hot Heat

Whew! Record setting heat here in SB. Nasty! So I switched to cotton yarn for a crossover tank out of the lastest Vogue Knitting. But it is the first time I have used the wrap & turn stitch method on a piece & for some reason I just can’t wrap my head around the instructions (teeheehee) Lame! I hate that! Makes me feel dumb  Alas, I just move on to another of my many projects until I have the patience to just do it until it is correct.

I love my Crystal Palace Deco-Ribbon!! Black with red stripes, making the cutest tank top! Front is finished on that one & the back is over half done. I love fast projects! Of course using size 10.5 needles doesn’t hurt either. I finished the baby blanket of Marilyn’s that she couldnt’ finish, being in the hospital & all. She is being moved to UCLA again, unfortunately! All that driving into LA gives me anger management issues

So now that it is heating up I think I am going to put away all sweater & blanket projects & start some fun light projects. New is the key word for this summer knitting season. I will post the rest of the new project photos shortly.

Whew! Busy weekend!

Wow was this weekend a fun one! We decided that Saturday would be a good day for Universal Studios Hollywood. Since we live in Santa Barbara it’s not too long of a drive & Tyler has been BEGGING to go since he discovered that it existed. So for the pleasure of our 3 delightful monsters we went. I have to say that it was 8 hours of one big advertisement. The Studio Tours ride, where you see Jaws & go through an earthquake, actually held us captive, unmoving on the tram, for about 8 minutes in the middle of the ride and showed us trailers to upcoming movies! Helllloooo!!! Not okay! I believe that is called ENTRAPMENT! <sigh> I hate to admit it but it was a lot of fun with the kids.

Yesterday was a nice relaxing day, made a trip to my LYS and found to my delight that they had so much new stock I couldn’t decided & left empty handed. But I did go back with Sadie in the afternoon & spent a good amount of money. Man were there some fun linen & silk yarns! I will have to dig through my patterns & find a fun summer top so I have an excuse to buy more yarn! I will post pics of my spoils. Sadie wants to learn to knit, she already knows how to single crochet, so she picked out some fun yarn~Lion brand Landscapes. Cute! She is only 6 and doesn’t have a lot of patience so teaching her will be a long process. But she has been asking for months so I must let her do it! Certainly can’t hurt her!

SO all in all fun weekend but NO knitting at all! That makes me sad   Today is my day of knitting redemption! I am going to clean quickly this morning so that I have all day with my precious needles. Can’t wait any longer! L8r Sk8r!

I love the mail lady!

Oh how do I show the mail lady how much I love her deliveries? I ~run~ out to meet her! Today was a good mail day! I received my order from Serendipity in South America, the Ebay store. Great, gorgeous yarn for a great price!

I started my jacket last night out of the la luna pattern book & frogged it this morning. Just not the colorway I liked. So that yarn will go to another use.

Why is it that I find myself online talking, IMing & emailing more about yarn & knitting than actually knitting? I may unplug for a couple of days for some deep knitting therapy! I am also kinda tired of using huge needles for the chunky look. I may just have to resort to a tank or something that uses 5 or 6’s soon. It’s not like I don’t have enough yarn to choose from for a good project

Off to start something new!Yee~haw!
