Knittin’ frenzy

I am bound and determined to finish all Christmas gifts before Thanksgiving! That way I can get a few of the sweaters I have on needles for myself finished.

I picked up the stitches along the bottom of my dads sweater to lengthen it a bit. I am going to take the leftover yarn with me to their house at Christmas to make sure that if I need to lenghten or shorten there will be no problem.

Another scarf & hat set is done. Now I am focused on the HP Gryffindor scarf & hat set. I am not enjoying working on it at all. It’s the yarn that is holding me back & I am seriously considering stopping with the yuck yarn & starting over in something I can handle working with.

Yesterday and today and probably tomorrow will be spent on the aran sweater for my mom. The body is at the length I want for joining the sleeves. One sleeve is ready & the other sleeve is only about 6 inches away. My goal is to have them all joined and up the raglan decrease by this afternoon. I suppose that means I had better get crack-a-lackin’ on it!

By the way, I hate holidays with no mail delivery! Frustrating!

diy day

Today I decided that those damn old kitchen cabinets that never seem to make it to the dump had better be put to a good use. So I selected to 2 that I thought were usable out of the group & whitewashed them with some random paint we had. Once they were dry they made their way into my office to be used for some organization on my table. Here they are!

CHRISTMAS CHARITY

This year I am going to spend 2 weeks at my parents house with the family over Christmas break. My sister that lives in the same area in Idaho just started working in the NICU (neo-natal intesive care unit, for the little tiny babes) at the local hospital. I was thinking that it would be fun to have some hats/blankies for the unit to give the babes. They live in Idaho where it’s freezing most of the year & could always use donated cute items for the little guys/girls that have quite long stays in their little isolets.

If anyone is interested in donating knit/crochet hats or blankies please bring them to knitting on Thursdays or let me know & I will come & pick them up. Below are some links to great, simple patterns used for donation items.

Thanks!!!

Remeber these babes are tiny! Their heads can be as small as 10 inches around so the projects are super fast & take scrap yarn! Please take the time this year to do something cute & fun to cheer up a family that’s having a difficult time!
