I couldn’t wait

My issue of Vogue knitting has not come yet but Tracy’s did. And I fell in love with pattern #3.

So Tracy & I hit Michaels last night to see what microspun they had on hand. Lo and Behold, they had all the original colors as called for in the pattern for myself and the colors Tracy wants to use. She is doing a cooler set of colors, creams, blues. You can go on over to her post about it & see. I cast on last night & did a bit of the ribbing but then I decided to finish the drop stitch hoodie before going any further.

I am on the hood now so it’s not much further. It’s a very simple pattern to memorize so it zips right along. I am still deciding on zippers up the sleeves or buttons. We’ll see with the merino, they may be too heavy.

I used one hank of the silk recycled yarn from Thuy to crochet a fun scarf/belt. I have never been a big fan of any handmade item as a hanging belt type thing but I tried it on & was rather shocked when I like how it hung & looked. So there you have it! I will post a free pattern with pictures, eventually.

I just love that pattern on top! It’s so pretty and fem and colorful! yay!

~Wavy fun~

Here is the progress on the Drop Stitch Hoodie, IK spring 2006. Started Sat. 3/18/06

Back complete:

Closeup of the wave stitch pattern (they call it drop stitch pattern, I like waves better):

This is a very enjoyable pattern to knit. It’s over 20 rows but you would never know it it is so simple. You get to look forward to dropping a stitch every 10 rows so it goes rather quickly. I love dropping stitches….it is so satisfying! Hence, the reason I have made 4 clapotis’.

I spent the last 5 hours of my day shampooing the carpet in my house. Woohoo

At least it is done & now I can focus on the other 900 things I have to do today. Sweet! Hope you all had a productive Monday!

btw…..I still haven’t showered & just started laundry so no chance of being clean anytime soon. Damn!

It’s a wrap!! Hardy har!

Okay, that was a lame pun but it is a wrap & it’s complete!!

Ballet Wrap Cardigan from Interweave Knits 2005

fine, another shot just a little closer up.

I do love this sweater! Once again, a perfect finished product using handpaintedyarn bulky merino. So soft…..mmmm…..

I started the Drop Stitch Hoodie out of Interweave Spring 2006 as soon as all ends were in on the wrap. I am using some of the last of the hpy (now known as malabrigo) merino worsted weight yarn. Very luscious & perfect colors to go with quite a few of my skirts. I love the zippers scattered throughout the pattern. I hope they won’t be too heavy for the yarn but if they are I will happily use dozens of tiny buttons instead. I like lots of little buttons on things. Not country like, more victorian like.

I get a full day of knitting, no leaving the house today! Sick (waterfall throwup, as it has been named by the youngest one) kid won’t permit any fun today. Hence, home, movies, knitting, possibly some crochet, coffee and rest. Yippee!!

I am trying….

I really am! I don’t want to accumulate more yarn but I just can’t seem to help myself! Thuy decided that she would share her massive recycled silk yarn purchase with the knit group & I walked away with 8 gorgeous balls of yarn. I love them, they are basking in their own glorious colors right next to my chair so I can fondle them often.

She also has a mass of noro kureyon that she is willing to thin out. That is the kicker for me. Offer to sell me yarn you have on hand & I will jump at the opportunity! Especially pretty, pretty colors like kureyon 131! Yeehaw! So I am rushing through the ballerina wrap cardigan to be ready for the acquiring of the kureyon. I have the back and both fronts as well as one of the two ties done. So it’s just the sleeves, one tie and assembly. No prob! I am totally motivated! I will have a new wrap by the end of the weekend!

That silk is so pretty I just can’t decide what to make with it. George, in all his infinite knitting wisdom, suggested that it would make a great pair of slippers! Hmmmm….he may just be on to something there! He can be quite the fountain of ideas that one. Who knew he just sat there soaking in all of our knitting chatter?? I do believe that will be the next test on the silk, slippers! I have 6 that match, relatively speaking, and 2 that are all out on their own in bright pink and multi brights. I do believe I may have a mismatchy pair of slippers in a few days! With the other 6 hanks I am just not sure! It’s heavy so apparel isn’t in the picture, plus it’s only about 400+- yards. I am seriously considering a bag of some kind for the summer but the shape has me stumped. Maybe a hobo bag of some kind, then line it. Won’t that be heavy out of the silk though? I just can’t decide!  sigh  We’ll just have to wait & see I think!

Oh, I think I have decided that the Starsky is going beltless. I don’t like belted cardigans so I thought maybe a brooch.

It stayed nicely but I have bad luck with brooches breaking. What I came up with (but have no picture for) is a skirt pin. Basically a kilt pin, large coil-less safety pin. I can use whichever feels right for the occasion/day! That makes me happy! This sweater just gets better & better!
