Announcing New Classes for Spring!!

UPDATE!!
Check the dates/times of classes, there have been a couple of changes.
– Flax will begin May 11th instead of May 4th
– Harley class time on June 8th will be 10am-12pm
– Double Knitting Monday afternoon dates: 4/22, 4/29, 5/6
– Building with Lace begins June 10th

􀁹 Class pre-registration is a must

􀁹 Class sizes are limited – enroll early

􀁹 To reserve your spot please pay when registering

􀁹 Tuition is nonrefundable

• If we have to cancel the class your class fee will be refunded

􀁹 Make-up classes are available for $10/hr

􀁹 Supply list is provided when enrolling

Purchase materials before class day.

􀁹 Please be on time as classes begin on time

􀁹 Everyone is required to have a book or pattern

No sharing due to copyright laws. This includes “guests”.


Next Step Brioche

Two, 3-hour sessions:
Saturday, March 9th 3 – 6pm
Saturday, March 30th 10am – 1pm

This class is for those that have worked the basic brioche stitch, flat or in the round, single or two color, and are ready to learn to increase & decrease, creating shapes and patterns within the brioche fabric.

We will be using the Staghorn pattern from Fresh Brioche by Nancy Marchant (brioche guru), and worsted weight yarns.

  • Beginning Socks
    • Three 2 hour sessions
    • $45 + supplies, pattern provided in class
    • Thursday evenings, 6 – 8pm:
      4/4, 4/18, 5/9

  • Beginning Knitting
    • Four 1.5 hour sessions
    • $40 + supplies, pattern provided in class
    • Fridays: 2:30 – 4pm
      4/5, 4/12, 4/19, 4/26
      OR
      5/3, 5/10, 5/17, 5/24

  • Double Knitting: Double knitting creates a thick, reversible, double-sided colorwork fabric by working both sides of the fabric at once. In this class, you will learn to knit a cute buffalo plaid using the basics as well as tips and tricks to work flat and in the round double knitting.
    Included: chart reading, keeping your edges clean, how to fix the most common mistakes

    • Advanced Beginner
    • Three 2 hour sessions
    • $40 + supplies, pattern provided in class
    • Monday evenings, 6 – 8pm: 4/22, 4/29, 5/6
      OR
      Thursday evenings, 6 – 8pm: 5/23, 5/30, 6/6

  • Toe-up Socks: Using a pattern with heel flap construction, using either magic loop or two circular needles you will knit toe-up socks that fit! Two at a time is an option, the pattern is a bit of a recipe to work with all yarn weights + foot sizes, based on your gauge.
    Skills required: successful sock knitting experience, pattern reading a must

    • Advanced Beginner
    • Three 2 hour sessions
    • $45 + pattern and supplies
    • Thursday evenings, 6 – 8pm:
      4/11, 4/25, 5/16
      OR
      Mondays, 1 -3pm: 5/13, 5/27, 6/10

  • Harley by Jenny Williams: top-down, in the round, woman’s sizes, cables with or without a cable needle, learn to read a cable chart,
    Looking for a sweater with a little more interest than the Flax?
    This sweater will introduce some of the same top-down, in-the-round, seamless sweater basics while teaching you some basic cable techniques as well. (Did someone say, “No cable needle required”?!?)
    Skills required: Basic pattern reading skills, knit, purl, increases, decreases, use of DPN or magic loop

    • Advanced Beginner
    • Five 2 hour sessions
    • $70 + pattern and supplies
      • Saturdays, 10am – 12pm: 4/13, 6/8
        1 – 3pm: 4/27, 5/11, 6/29

  • Flax by Tin Can Knits: top-down, in the round, huge size range, worsted weight
    Have you knit more scarves, shawls, and hats than you can shake a stick at?! Now it’s time for a sweater! With the huge size range of Flax in worsted weight yarn, you can choose the size from newborn to 4XL and learn all the same techniques; top-down, in-the-round, seamless construction.
    Skills required: Basic pattern reading skills, knit, purl, increases, decreases, use of DPN or magic loop

    • Advanced Beginner
    • Four 2 hour sessions
    • $60 + supplies, pattern free online
    • Saturdays, 10am – 12pm:
      5/11, 5/18, 6/1, 6/29, 7/20

  • Building with Lace by Skacel/Knit Purl Hunter: lace building skills, including nupps + beads, chart reading
    • Intermediate
    • 9 sessions, every 2 weeks
    • $108 + book and supplies
    • Every 2nd + 4th Mondays of the month, 10am – 12pm, starting June 10th

BRIOCHE WORKSHOP

Thursday, Feb 21st + Friday, Feb 22nd
5:30 – 8pm both nights $40 + Supplies
Learn the ever-so-popular brioche stitch technique in knitting; flat and in the round using two high contrasting colors.
You can choose from a cowl or infinity scarf, directions given for both in the pattern available on Ravelry.

Purple Hat Meet Up at Shivering Sheep — Central KS Knitters’ Guild

New Classes Starting VERY Soon, Fiber Fling Winter Retreat & A THANK YOU!

Thank you!!

I want to send out a huge thank you to all that were able to make it to the Heritage Hut Destash sale this past weekend. It was a great success, and a wonderful time with Mary + many friends we haven’t seen in a while.

Fiber Fling Winter Retreat

We are hosting the winter retreat at Camp Mennoscah once again, only this time we are back in the big Retreat Center. More room, comfort, and a bigger kitchen/dining area. Plus, it’s closer to the river so walks are all that more enjoyable.
Plenty of room for spinning wheels, table looms, rigid heddle looms, tons of projects, and TONS OF FUN!!
We do a fun gift exchange, there is a Trash to Treasure table to bring your unwanted items to give/trade, and we usually have a great workshop of some kind.

New Winter Knitting Classes

‘Tis the season for knitting!

January is here (faster than I was ready for) and the new knitting classes at Picket Fence Quilt Co start soon!
Just a reminder, you must register ahead of time with Picket Fence Quilt Co by either calling 316.558.8899, or stop in to the shop on W Central at Ridge Rd.

Beginning Socks
$40 + Supplies


This one is coming up fast, but luckily we have plenty of great sock yarns + needles in stock. Plus, there is no prep work!
Traditionally knit socks on double point needles using sock weight yarn, knit from the cuff down with a flap heel and wedge toe.


Thursday Evenings
Jan 10th, 24th, + Feb 7th     6 – 8pm

Beginning Sweater
$60 + Supplies


Great starting point in your sweater knitting/fitting expeditions.
Basic drop shoulder sweater knit in pieces using worsted/aran/bulky yarn, knit to your gauge, and your measurements, then seamed together.

This pretty piece is knit using modular knitting for the front panel and a unique body/sleeve joining + construction.

Sinister Catdigan/ Dogdigan Sweater
$65 + Supplies


This sweater is just the cat’s meow (or dog’s woof)!
Knit in the round from top down you will have colorwork knitting as well as steeking to cut open the cardigan at the end. No fear, it’s really a simple process.

There is knitting prep for this class that you will need at least 2 weeks to complete, get signed up soon & I will contact you with prep instructions.

This sweater involves A LOT of knitting so classes are spread a month apart.
You will have the choice of working the steeked cardigan or the pullover version.

I am converting it to a bulky version as well, currently working on the translation.

AND THERE IS NOW A UTTERLY UNSINISTER DOGDIGAN CHART INCLUDED IN THE PATTERN
