Cardigans are my thing right now. The utility of them, the variation of them, the many, many different options for closure. Cardigans make me happy!
That is why I have 3 fully knit, waiting to be finished. Now, if you know me you know that I do not like to assemble the damn pieces! I have 2 sweaters that are almost 10 years old that need to be sewn together. SO NOT INTERESTED!! For these cardigans I keep telling myself, okay just finish knitting the next one & then whip them all together on the sewing machine, since 2 of them take zippers & I just refuse to hand sew zippers in. Well, the problem with that line of thinking is that I will just keep knitting cardigans until I have oh, a dozen or so. Then none of them will be finished completely because it’s a mountain of assembly that I just can’t climb with asthma!
But don’t worry your pretty little heads about that because I have a plan!
On Monday while George is at work I will complete, and I mean completely complete, the camping sweater. There are 3 steps left. 1) pick up sts for the zipper placket 2) assemble pieces 3) sew the zipper in.
Tada, one complete camping sweater! Hopefully! Then he’ll come home from work & surprise!! At this point he is thinking “she is never going to sew that damn thing together, i just know it….” But I think if I talk myself into looking at it as a gift I will get it done, especially with a deadline looming! Brilliant I say!
One of the other cardigans is made from some chocolate bulky wool from handpaintedyarn.com. I sent some to my secret pal & made sure to order enough for myself, it’s so pretty! Tracy made the Hot Lava out of it & that was my motivation for knittin’ myself some!
On the needles is a cardigan out of black simply soft yarn. I am kinda using bits & pieces from 1000 sweaters to come up with the pattern. That’s what I like about that book, it’s really just motivational reading!
Oh, speaking of reading! The new book in the Outlander series by Daina Gabaldon is out & of course, it is huge @ over 1000 pages, it is tiny print, it makes me giddy!! This ain’t no HP 2 day read people, this one might take me as long as 2 weeks! But I must savor this one, we aren’t guaranteed a 7th book. Damn them!
Well, I am off to knit! I am done with my cleaning for the morning so I am free to do what I please! Oh, coffee’s ready! Gotta run!
